How to use Practical Wisdom

A quick guide to finding your way around. Close this any time — you can reopen it from your account menu.

Finding tips

Switch views with the buttons at the top — Network, Cards, Ask, and Favorites.
Search in the box up top. Keyword matches the words you type; Meaning finds tips that are similar in idea even when the words differ.
Filter by tag — open the Filter panel to narrow tips down to one or more tags.

Network view

Tips appear as dots grouped into coloured themes. Tap a theme to focus it, or tap a dot to read that tip and see its links.
Scroll to zoom, drag to pan. Use Reset view to zoom back out.
The glowing gold link points to a suggested next tip to explore.

Cards view

Read one tip at a time. Next and Back move through them; on a touch screen, swipe right to save, left to skip.
Change course lets you jump to a theme or describe in your own words where to explore next.

Ask for advice

Describe a situation in your own words and get advice grounded in the most relevant tips — you'll see exactly which tips it drew on.

Saving & exploring favourites

Tap the heart (♡) on a tip to save it to your Favorites.
In Favorites, open a tip and pick an angle under “Explore this tip” to see it from different perspectives.
Your journal — in the same pane, log how applying the tip went. It's private to you, and your entries survive even if you un-favorite the tip.
Get AI feedback — the AI reads the tip and your whole journal for it, then coaches you on applying it more effectively. The feedback is saved into the journal so you can re-read it later.
Practice this week — pin one tip as your current practice; Favorites shows your progress and nudges you to journal it. A weekly review lets the AI reflect on all of the week's entries.
Share — copy a public link to any tip; Daily tip (in your account menu, on the installed app) sends one tip each morning.

Your account

Click your name (top right) to open the account menu.
Suggest a tip — share a piece of wisdom; an admin reviews it before it joins the collection.
Appearance — switch between Light, Medium, and Dark.

Admin tools

You're signed in as an administrator — these tools are only visible to you.

List view — the admin-only view for browsing and editing every tip.
Editing a tip — click a tip in List view to open it. Edit its wording and anecdote, attach a video (with optional start/stop times), write your own “choose an angle” text, and manage its tags. Click Save to store everything at once.
“Choose an angle” text — anything you write here is shown to readers in the Favorites “Explore this tip” pane instead of AI-generated text. Leave a box blank to keep that angle AI-generated.
Picture — every tip has an illustration in one shared style. In the tip editor you can either Modify this picture (describe a change, e.g. “add a moon” — the rest of the picture stays as it is) or Draw a new picture (describe the picture you want from scratch). Both keep the library's style, and each one costs a few cents. You can also Upload a picture to use your own image file instead — that's free and works even if AI generation isn't switched on.
Tips & Tags Management menu (top right when in List view):
- Add Tip — create a single tip.
- Batch import tips — paste many tips at once, with #tags inline.
- Import tags — add allowed tags as primary or secondary.
- Apply a tag to tips — click tips to add or remove a tag quickly.
- Delete tags — remove tags from the allowed list.
- Review submissions — approve or reject community-suggested tips.
- Export all tips (Excel) — download everything to a spreadsheet for backup.
- Import tips from Excel — load a spreadsheet back in to refill the database (matched by tip text, so re-importing won't duplicate).
- Clear all tips — permanently delete every tip at once (tag names are kept). This cannot be undone, so export a backup first.
- Clear all tags — permanently delete the entire tag list and unlink every tip from its tags (the tips themselves stay). This cannot be undone.
- Sync tip pictures — after a deploy that adds new tip illustrations, this attaches them to their tips. Free and safe to re-run.
- Curated paths — author ordered tip sequences readers can follow in Cards view.
- Usage stats — 30-day counts of what's viewed and used. A nightly backup .xlsx is also written next to the database (last 14 kept).
Signing in / out of admin — use Admin sign-in and Exit admin mode in your account menu.
